Privacy Policy

Slack Quick Reply is a Chrome extension that adds a Quick Reply button to the quick action toolbar on Slack messages. When you click it, the extension copies the content of that message into the Slack message composer, formatted as a blockquote, so you can reply in context.

This Privacy Policy describes how Slack Quick Reply handles information when you use the extension. It is written to comply with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its disclosure, handling, and Limited Use requirements.

Summary

1. Slack Quick Reply does not collect, store, sell, rent, or share your personal information with the developer or any third party.
2. Slack Quick Reply does not transmit any data to external servers operated by the developer.
3. Slack Quick Reply does not use analytics, advertising, tracking, profiling, or monetization of user data.
4. The extension only reads Slack message content locally in your browser, at the moment you click Quick Reply, solely to place that content into the Slack composer as a blockquote.
5. All processing happens entirely on your device inside the Slack web page. No message content leaves your browser through this extension.

What Slack Quick Reply Does

Slack Quick Reply provides one user-facing feature:

1. It adds a Quick Reply button to the quick action toolbar on Slack messages.
2. When you click that button, the extension reads the visible text content of the selected Slack message from the page you are viewing.
3. It inserts that content into the Slack message composer as a blockquote so you can write your reply.

The extension does nothing else. It does not modify Slack messages, read your inbox in the background, monitor your browsing, or operate when you are not actively using the Quick Reply button.

Information the Extension Encounters

Under the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, "handling" user data includes reading or clipping content from a website. Slack Quick Reply therefore encounters the following information only when you click Quick Reply:

1. Slack message content — the text of the Slack message you chose to reply to, as displayed on the Slack web page.
2. Page context on slack.com — the minimum DOM access needed to locate the selected message, open or focus the composer, and insert the blockquoted text.

Depending on the Slack message you reply to, that content may include information that Slack itself displays to you, such as usernames, channel names, timestamps, links, or other text contained in the message. Slack Quick Reply does not independently identify you and does not request your Slack account credentials.

What We Collect

We do not collect any information.

Slack Quick Reply does not gather, log, index, or persist any of the following:

1. Personally identifiable information
2. Slack account details, authentication tokens, cookies, or passwords
3. Message content after the Quick Reply action completes
4. Web browsing activity outside the single Slack message interaction
5. Usage analytics, crash reports, diagnostics, or telemetry sent to the developer
6. Financial, payment, or health information
7. Location data

The extension does not maintain a database, account system, or cloud backend for user data.

How Information Is Used

Message content is used for one purpose only:

1. To populate the Slack composer with a blockquote of the message you selected, so you can reply in context.

That use is:

1. Local — performed entirely in your browser on the Slack page you already have open.
2. Immediate — the content is used only at the time you click Quick Reply.
3. User-initiated — nothing happens unless you explicitly click the Quick Reply button.
4. Single-purpose — limited to the Quick Reply feature described on the Chrome Web Store listing and in the extension interface.

We do not use encountered information for advertising, interest-based targeting, creditworthiness determination, market research, or any purpose unrelated to Quick Reply.

How Information Is Stored

We do not store your information.

Slack Quick Reply does not save message content to:

1. Developer-controlled servers
2. Chrome sync storage
3. Local extension storage for later retrieval
4. IndexedDB, cookies, or other persistent browser storage managed by the extension

After the blockquote is inserted into the Slack composer, the extension retains no copy of that message content.

How Information Is Shared

We do not share, sell, rent, trade, or transfer your information to anyone.

Slack Quick Reply does not send data to:

1. The developer
2. Analytics providers
3. Advertising platforms or data brokers
4. Affiliates, partners, or subprocessors
5. Any third-party API or remote service

Because no user data is transmitted by this extension, there are no third parties that receive user data from Slack Quick Reply.

Permissions

Slack Quick Reply requests only the permissions necessary to provide Quick Reply on Slack's website. These may include:

1. Host access to slack.com — so the extension can run only on Slack pages where the Quick Reply feature is needed.
2. Content script access to the Slack page DOM — so the extension can add the Quick Reply button, read the selected message text, and insert the blockquote into the composer.

The extension follows the Chrome Web Store minimum permission principle: it does not request broader access than required for this single feature, and it does not request permissions for unrelated future functionality.

Limited Use Disclosure

Slack Quick Reply's use of information received from Slack pages adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically:

1. Allowed use — Any message content accessed by the extension is used only to provide the Quick Reply user-facing feature.
2. Allowed transfer — No user data is transferred to third parties. Because the extension does not transmit user data off your device, no transfers occur.
3. Prohibited advertising — User data is not used for ads, retargeting, interest-based advertising, or any form of monetization.
4. Prohibited human access — No human reads user data, because the developer does not receive, store, or have access to any user data from the extension.

Security

Because Slack Quick Reply does not collect, store, or transmit user data to developer-controlled systems, there is no developer-side database or server infrastructure that could expose your information.

All interaction occurs locally within your browser session on Slack. You remain subject to Slack's own security practices and policies for data handled by the Slack application itself.

Your Choices and Control

You are always in control of whether the extension accesses a message:

1. The extension only reads message content when you click Quick Reply.
2. You can stop using the extension at any time by disabling or uninstalling it from Chrome.
3. Because the extension does not store user data, there is no developer-held account data for you to access, modify, or delete.

Children's Privacy

Slack Quick Reply is not directed at children under the age of 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Third-Party Services

Slack Quick Reply operates on Slack's website. Slack is a third-party service with its own terms and privacy practices. This Privacy Policy applies only to Slack Quick Reply and not to Slack, Google Chrome, or any other third-party service.

Publishing and distribution of the extension through the Chrome Web Store are governed by Google's policies and the Google Privacy Policy for data that Google collects from developers and users in connection with the store. Slack Quick Reply does not share extension user data with Google.

International Users

Slack Quick Reply is available to users worldwide. Because the extension processes data only locally on your device and does not transfer personal information to the developer, it does not intentionally export your data to the developer's systems.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. When it is, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised. Material changes will also be reflected in the Chrome Web Store listing where appropriate.

Continued use of Slack Quick Reply after an update means you accept the revised policy. If you do not agree with a change, you should stop using the extension and uninstall it.

Legal Compliance

Slack Quick Reply is designed to comply with applicable privacy laws and the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies. If a future version of the extension changes how data is handled, this Privacy Policy and the Chrome Web Store privacy disclosures will be updated before or at the time of that change.
